Ceramics is one of the oldest forms of art in human history, yet many artistic movements of the 20th and 21st centuries have embraced the craft based origins.Assembly: Contemporary Ceramics brings together a strand of seven local artists working in sculpture, painting, drawing, installation and performance who integrate traditional ceramic processes and aesthetics into the production of contemporary work. This exhibition will be part of a larger festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Margaret Lawrence, referencing her keen interest in ceramics and her ceramics collection.
